This week I have had to work all hours once again. I am trying to claw back the extra week which all the problems of last week incurred. There is no choice really – Chris has set up tenants to move in for next week.

It wasn't until two days ago that I received this interesting piece of news. Chris called me up and said he had arranged tenants already for the flats. I congratulated him on his efforts and then he let slip that he had promised them they could move in before the 24th Sept. I can't believe it.

It is clear to me that he has very little idea about how long it takes to finish up those last little niggles and loose ends. As it is, the garden will have to be done when the tenants are in. Hopefully the tenants will be understanding sorts, because something tells me I will be knocking on their door several times over the coming weeks to finish off the odd snag.

Working for Chris is a little like having a boss again and that is what I left an office job to get away from. He isn't on my case all the time, but when he feels stress, he makes sure that I feel it too. I am used to stroppy clients, but at least I know I can walk away from them at the end of the job and I don't ever have to see them again. With Chris, I need to keep him on my side as I rely on him for my next job.

I guess I am wondering if it is worth it? The money is good, but I feel like I am losing my client base and I value that. I need to find a way of being able to do Chris' jobs and my own.

Still, enough moaning. For now, I have to concentrate on getting the final parts of these flats sorted. They look brilliant actually. The painters are in at the moment. I relented and hired a painting firm as I just couldn't face the sight of a paint brush. As it happens I wouldn't have had a chance to do the painting anyway.

The cupboards in the loft worked out a treat. I am pretty pleased with my handywork there actually. It all blends in seamlessly and the loft looks like it is truly a part of the house. The tiling in the bathrooms has been done mostly by Katy. She got over her tiling fear and is a little professional now. I keep telling her she could make a living doing tiling, but she has her heart set on plumbing.

Big news....Claire has a job interview. I didn't honestly think that would happen, so now I will have to show enthusiasm when all I feel is worry. I can't cope with a full time job and the kids as well. Just a call me a Neanderthal!
