We've got a Grant Combi 90 external oil-fired boiler that has developed a bit of a cough.

Just this last couple of days it has been struggling to ignite.

You can hear it trying to fire up a dozen times before it manages it.

It's been about a year since it was last serviced so I've ordered a new oil nozzle for it and will fit this and clean the flame sensor.

Hopefully this will sort it out but does anyone else have any suggestions?

We're in a very remote location (50 miles to the nearest c/h engineer) so calling out an engineer isn't an easy option. (they charge 50p/mile each way before he gets out of his van!)

Sorted this out today. The photocell (flame detector) was covered in soot.

A quick clean and it's working fine again.

I wonder what that would have cost me from an engineer?
