Hi

Anyone out there that can help installing a new shuttle divertor for a shower/bath mixer tap?? Do I need to take the whole tap unit off?

Are you talking about a replacement on an existing bath/shower mixer. If yes, can you not get to the component. Maybe post a picture of what you've got

Hi

It is an existing mixer tap with shower attachment. I have posted some photos on but they are in the photos section. There is the old shuttle minus the prongs that held it in place and the new one with the mixer tap style.

If you could take a look I would be very grateful.

Thx

Doesn't look like you need to remove the whole tap from what I can see in the pictures. Isn't it just a question of fitting the new one back in the same way as you took the old one out. Or is the new one not the same as the old ?

The old one the prongs holding it in place had snapped off inside the tap. And the new one is intact but there is no physical way it can go in the same way as the old one came out.

OK Get what the problem is now. Assume you managed to get the broken prongs back out of the tap itself.
If the new diverter won't fit then yeah I think you're going to have to take the body of the tap apart to fit it.
Looking at the tap in the picture, can you remove the spout and gain enough access that way The apperture looks bigger than for the shower hose connection.

Jules, yes you'll need to take the tap off to get to that. You're then going to need to disconnect the tap assembly from the inlets before you can remove the outlet

Just took a closer look at the pictures - looks like you may be able to leave the inlets in place on the bath and remove the assembly by undoing the nuts at the top of them

The tap spout has to come off Juliet , IF the plumber has put in isolating valves this is easy if not then all water needs switching off (remember to power off the boiler). They don't make taps like they used to .

Ill ring you later .
