wall fixing

The problem

One of the wall fixings for a floating shelf had been ripped out of the wall when someone walked into it.  The fixing was one of the metal self drill panhead type which relies on it’s deep thread bearing in the plasterboard itself.

The plasterboard was left with a hole about the size of a 1p piece when the shelf was dislodged.

The putty comes in a resealable tube and is made up of an outer blue material with a separate white inner core.  The beauty of this is that you don’t need to fiddle about trying to measure out the right amount of hardener.  It’s already done for you.

You simply cut off a suitable length and knead it between your fingers and palms until it becomes white and streak free.

The putty was then worked into the hole in the plasterboard and the original threaded fixing screwed into it.  Excess putty was simply trimmed away with a small scraper.  Within minutes it was starting to set and after about an hour or so the shelf was refitted.

Conclusion

The fixing now seems stronger than the original so 10/10 to Loctite.  A quick and easy repair with no mess !
