Summer is a great time to give into your gut instincts and loosen the purse strings a little. It’s a time when spirits are high and worries are forgotten – the perfect time to give into the savings account.

If you’re looking to add something to your garden that will enhance your summer and entice you outside for that vitamin D you sorely missed out on over the colder months, here are a few suggestions to get you inspired:

Garden sheds

Garden sheds are versatile – they can be easily renovated into a summer home with just a few homely additions, such as beanbags, a mini fridge for ice lollies, and stocks of sun lotion so you don’t have to leave the garden to top up! Garden sheds are also a great place to stock drinks and snacks for summery gatherings – and a place to gather during the summer storms.

Barbeque

Barbecues offer the perfect excuse to fill your garden with friends and have some yummy food – you can even be creative and look up some alternative barbeque recipes (especially if you have vegetarian friends).

Swing seat

Adding a swing seat to your garden makes for the perfect place for a catch up with friends, just save the drinks for afterwards to avoid any accidents! They’re also perfect for having a few relaxing moments with your favourite book – many people find the swinging motion soothing.

Conservatory

Conservatories are a big investment, but they add value to your house and provide extra space. They’re perfect for cool summer evenings and provide a great alternative to the dinner table! It is also now possible to buy self build Conservatories that with a few friends and a few tools you can build yourself and save even more money than hiring contractors to build the conservatory for you. However if you are not sure then getting help from a professional pair of hands wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Trampoline

Trampolines are a great way to keep fit over summer, you can enjoy the sun and have fun without even realising you’re exercising. They also offer a great place to sunbathe without having to lie on the grass amongst creepy crawlies. Definitely not just for children!

Garden bean bag

They do exist, honest! And they make for a great place to sit, socialise and relax. An added bonus is that they’re easy to pick up and move to whatever part of the garden that takes your fancy. Perhaps consider investing in a parasol, too, to avoid any burnt noses in case you fall asleep.

Vegetable patch

What better excuse to spend the day in the garden than tending to the vegetables that will be used for next week’s dinners? Free vegetables, exercise and a sense of achievement – all from a few seeds – it’s a no-brainer!

Rotating Sphere Seater

Rotating sphere seaters are the crème de la crème of garden furniture. They provide the best of both worlds – outdoor and indoor. With comfortable chairs, 360° rotation so you can face the sun or avoid the breeze and a reflective cover to ensure a comfortable temperature – this piece of furniture has no flaws. Whether you’re having a few friends round for a cosy meal or you fancy taking your laptop to work outside – the rotating sphere seater brings the indoors outside.
