Owen Waterboys has finally launched his DIY boat nearly 30 years after he started it. He began building the boat in 1982 in his Mum's garden and expected it might take 5 years to complete. 30 years later and plenty of man-hours he had the task of getting it from the garden to the sea.
A huge crane was used to hoist the boat into the air and onto a lorry and to Mr Waterboys delight it floated once placed into the sea.
He commented that he made his boat from scratch with steel and wood, not from kits as other people often do and that he is the sort of person who likes to finish a job once he starts...eventually.
