Latest research has shown that 35% of car owners would try to carry out a service themselves in an attempt to save some cash.
The report from Kwik-Fit shows that 69% of motorists felt that they weren't confident when it came to servicing their own car, but many of these might give it a go.
A shocking 2.5 million fewer cars were serviced in the last year at a garage compared to the previous year and people who own cars over 11 years old are more likely to attempt a DIY job than those with a younger car.
David White from Kwik-Fit has commented that a proper service will pick up faults which a MOT might not. He says that the performance of a car can be compromised by poor workmanship and having an incomplete service history can affect resale value.
