Nearly 8000 people signed an online petition on Facebook to keep the new paint scheme at the Citadel Station in Carlisle after it was made over by Homebase for one of their ads.
Unfortunately the council stepped in and repainted the station a few days ago, leaving commuters disappointed.
The station was decked out in stripes and one platform was changed into a garden with furniture and plant pots. Another platform had sofas, rugs and lamps with purple wallpaper.
The call to action was started by local student Eden Dunn, but the council were obliged to return the listed building to original, but rather dull, grey.
