Optimism in the UK housing market seems to be improving according to a survey by Zoopla.co.uk. The Housing Market Sentiment Survey has shown that 81% of home-owners believe house prices will rise this year and just 10% expect them to fall.
This is tempered by the lack of availability of mortgages, with 75% of people claiming that getting a mortgage is no easier now than it was 3 months ago. 42% of those surveyed said they will be embarking on a spot of home improvement over the next 6 months, perhaps indicating that more homes are being prepared for the market. These results are a turnaround from those posted last year, where 4 out of 5 people felt that house prices would continue to fall.
