The UK's number one website for matching tradespeople with clients has released a list of their top ten DIY and building trends for 2010.
Ratedpeople.com says that home-owners will be making their homes more energy efficient in a bid to improve the environment and to save money. This includes jobs such as insulating the loft, adding double glazed windows and filing in wall cavities with blown insulation.
They also expect people will be “greening” their home with solar power, wind turbines, water butts or even vegetable patches.
They also say that home-owners may be looking to maximise the value of their home with loft conversions and basement extensions. With house prices expected to rise this year this may mean more home will be placed onto the market.
The Founder of Ratedpeople.com commented that while people may take on many of these jobs themselves in order to save money, they should be aware that shoddy DIY work will have a negative effect on the value of your home.
