The world's smallest apartment has gone on sale in the heart of Rome. The former porter's closet is just large enough to hold a single bed and little else. Split over two floors, the room has a sleeping platform over a shower room. There is one single window at the bed level. Despite its obvious drawbacks, the bedsit has been getting plenty of interest from locals who are attracted by the price tag of just 50,000 Euros.
The location is also thought to be a plus factor, as it lies on a picturesque square near a huge Renaissance church.
Meanwhile UK residents may find that their homes have dropped in price in the last month after Halifax revealed that they recorded a reduction of £6,000 in the price of the average property.
They have said that there has been an increase in the number of properties on the market combined with a drop in demand. They have added that it is too soon to suggest that this is a sign of things to come and that house prices are still higher than they were a year ago.
