B&Q are offering their customers the chance to take part in courses aimed at those who are new to the joys of DIY. They have started the classes after their research found that 60% of people have little jobs around the home which they cannot do due to time, cost or simple know-how. The research also showed that 60% of people wish they could learn more of the skills which their grandparents have.
The Stoke-on-Trent branch is the first to run the classes and participants are full of praise for the two day course. The course covers hanging doors, changing handles, replacing radiators, putting up shelves and installing worktops and skirting boards. The pupils also get the chance to use a range of tools. The classes are initially free but require a £20 deposit. They will be rolled out across the West Midlands in the next few weeks.
