The distribution arm of B&Q may be shedding more than 1000 jobs after the company announced it will be pulling out of centres run by third parties such as DHL and Wincanton.
These centres are based in Swindon, Runcorn, Coventry and Chepstow.
B&Q aim to open a new distribution centre in Swindon creating 550 jobs, while another 250 jobs will be created at their Worksop site in Notts.
B&Q have said that the reorganisation would improve customer service, reduce transport costs and cut emissions of CO2. A spokesperson from the company has said that a proper consultation process will be followed and redundancies will be minimised. Efforts will be made to move staff members to other sites wherever possible.
