Speaking at the DIY Show at the NEC in Birmingham, retail analyst Matthew Piner from Verdict Research commented that bathrooms are to be one of the top areas of interest for DIYers in 2010. He said that 2009 was the year for the new fitted kitchen and that bathrooms were an area which still had plenty of untapped potential for retailers.
This may be welcome news for DIY retailers, as experts have revealed that consumers are unlikely to be getting out their credit cards for some time to come.
A speech from Stephen Robertson, the director of the British Retail Consortium, also at the DIY Show, added that confidence in the retail sector has peaked for now and will improve again after the election. They found that January saw the worst growth figures in retail for the last 15 years.
