Preparation - general
Preparation is the key
It is so often said that preparation is the key to a good job, and it really is the case. The difference between a good and bad job almost invariably relates to the amount of time spent preparing the work.
Not only can neglect at this stage ruin the final appearance, but it can also result in more serious problems - paint beginning to flake or wallpaper beginning to peel.
Cleaning the surfaces
It is vital to remove the dirt, grease and loose material from surfaces to be decorated. You also need to repair defects before decorating. Remember too, that new surfaces as well as old require a certain amount of preparation before work starts.
Although this part of the work can be the least inspiring, it really can pay dividends.
